Shake It Up

Shake It Up

$ 99.00

Come on—admit it!  At some point in your life, most of you have probably tried to sneak a peek at one of your wrapped presents.  Especially as a kid, those presents sat there under the tree like a black hole of temptation, sucking you in until you couldn’t resist.  You checked that the coast was clear, picked up your gift and shook it to see what was inside.  Most of the time this is done in secret, but not during the “Shake It Up” series.  During this series, kids will be encouraged to shake different presents and figure out what’s inside.  The contents, when revealed, will help kids discover the story of the most incredible Christmas gift ever given, a gift that shook the world—the gift of Jesus.

Available for purchase until December 31, 2018.

      Shake It Up

      Teachers enjoyed the ease of using it. Loved the step by step explanation and the creativity of the boxes to shake. We adapted it for mostly large group use. Liked it so well we purchased the entire year.

      Ok, better than I thought.

      I have loved and used the old Willow Creek Promiseland curriculum for years. Yes it is old but I still use it in my curriculum rotation. I know that it is outdated and many of the resources are unusable. I was looking for a replacement and having difficulty. Many curriculums out there are top notch with their media and resources, but they just do not have the same quality in their curriculum writing. Most activities are just stupid, very little creativity, or it's all video and scripted more as entertainment, with little or no interaction. I do not like those options. So I was looking for a curriculum that would combine both good curriculum writing with quality media that enhanced the teaching. I saw the promo for GO and thought, YES! This is an amazing example of creativity and modern media resources. But when I got into the curriculum they had none of the media element, and what I missed was they say upfront that they don't. This turned me off. Then I needed a Christmas unit to fill a gap in my current curriculum rotation. After using ShakeItUP I have discovered that the curriculum writing itself is right up there with Willow Creek's Promiseland curriculum. Well written with lots of creative ideas and activities that get the kids involved and excited about being part of the story. I am glad I am using it. But I do not give it 5 stars because it is lacking in the media aspect. I am not looking for video driven lessons. I want the kids to have a part in the discovery of the lesson. But I am all about creating an environment, atmosphere, and using media in it's proper place. With this curriculum I am having to modify or recreate the media myself to fit the standards of the culture I am trying to reach. Overall, I may continue to use GO until I find another curriculum that has good curriculum as well as good media resources.
